Requirements as a Volunteer
As the volunteer group grows, we require that each volunteer should be involved in at least 2 events and 2 tasks during the calendar year:
If a volunteer is unable to be involved during the calendar year, please inform the Cantonese in Ireland Board about resigning from the volunteers group.
The volunteer will be removed from the whatsapp group (and other platforms used for group communications, if applicable).
If the volunteer is interested in being involved in the future, they are welcome to apply again.Cantonese in Ireland will review the volunteers group at least once a year to ensure we have an active volunteer group.
To be involved in an event (aside from brainstorming in the chats) may include:
Sourcing materials for a workshop/event, seeking out guest speakers, seeking out locations, registration on the day, co-hosting, facilitator, coordinator, help with general setup/teardown, moving things, etc.
We have various subcommittees including Events, Promotion, Cantonese Storytelling, Pop Culture.
If a volunteer has an interest in an area, get in touch with the Cantonese in Ireland Board.
Children first course
Volunteers are required to complete the free “Children First E-Learning Programme”: https://www.tusla.ie/children-first/children-first-e-learning-programme
Current volunteers (joined before 25th May 2023, are required to complete the online programme by 25th July 2023.
New volunteers from 25th May 2023, 2 months from date of join to complete the online programme.
At the end of every calendar year, volunteers are required to fill a form to express their willingness to continue volunteering with CII. They are also required to express interest in taking up different responsibilities in the group.
