A big congratulations to our two outstanding winners in our Cantonese Translation Competition:
首先恭喜我哋粵語翻譯比賽兩位得獎者：

今次翻譯比賽選用咗 James Joyce《尤利西斯》（Ulysses）入面嘅一段文字，選自Lotus Eaters。

以下係評審彭李菁博士對得獎作品嘅評論：
Dorothy’s writing stood out for its strong literary style, blending elegant phrasing with natural dialogue and narration. The longer monologues were polished to flow smoothly, appealing to Cantonese readers. Her translation evokes the charm of Cantonese opera—lively yet poetic, with classic undertones that highlight the connection between Cantonese and Classical Chinese. The dialogue remained true to the original characters—graceful, yet perfectly colloquial.
Dorothy嘅文稿喺文學性上面更加突出，有出現非常典雅嘅詞句，但係又能夠貼合場景同埋行文中對話同旁白嘅風格。長段獨白潤色得比較通暢，符合粵語讀者嘅喜好。呢種翻譯風格令人諗起粵劇，雖然活潑近似生活口語，但係又有經典文學嗰種餘韻，而且仲更加突出咗粵語保留古代漢語嘅韻味同句法特徵。對話通暢又符合原著人物嘅口吻態度，小小斯文，但係都口語化得啱啱好。
Kiki showed a deep understanding of the stream-of-consciousness style, with layered imagery that felt like flowing water. Her work captures the light and leisurely tone of Cantonese while guiding readers through a rich sensory experience. The mix of colloquial and refined language in her semi-narrative sections was beautifully balanced. The dialogue was vivid and dynamic, keeping readers engaged even through dense, expressive monologues. A truly excellent translation!
Kiki 嘅文稿對意識流嘅寫法有好好嘅理解，有好多種意像好似水流過層層疊疊嘅感覺，同時都兼有粵語嗰種輕快閑情。最長嗰段半旁白半描寫，要有好似同讀者講故仔嘅感覺，同時又半夢半醒沉醉喺好豐富層次嘅感官盛宴。呢一段嘅翻譯，混雜咗俗語同埋好斯文嘅書面語，恰到好處。對話活潑，所以就算讀完長段比較豐富濃縮嘅獨白都唔會攰。真係一篇非常優秀嘅翻譯作品。
