Cantonese-English storytime at Cork City Library
After a few days of rare Irish sunshine, yesterday’s Cantonese-English storytime at Cork City Library @corkcitycouncil felt especially fitting! ☀️📖
We read A Quiet Heart Keeps You Cool (心靜自然涼) by Katie Tang @pineblossombooks , a lovely bilingual picture book with Cantonese, English, and Jyutping. The children learned the meaning behind the saying “心靜自然涼” and made watermelon paper fans to survive Ireland’s very brief "heatwave"! 🍉😆
A big thank you to Cork City Library for their ongoing support. We're also delighted to see multilingual children’s books, including Traditional Han books donated by Cantonese in Ireland, on display.
These books can be borrowed through Ireland’s national library network, simply place a reservation and collect them from your local library, wherever you are in Ireland.

呢幾日，太陽伯伯終於惦記愛爾蘭嘅居民，大大放送佢溫暖嘅陽光。啱晒我哋琴日喺高基市立圖書館講嘅粵英雙語故事<<心靜自然涼>>。呢本由KATIE TANG (Pine Blossom Books) 寫嘅童書有齊粵文英文加粵拼。小朋友聽完，終於明白咗「心靜自然涼」呢句諺語嘅意思。我哋仲一齊做西瓜紙扇以對抗愛爾蘭嘅「炎炎夏日」。
好多謝高基市立圖書館兒童圖書部一直以嚟嘅支持，等我哋可以透過粵英雙語故事，將閱讀樂趣帶俾本地小朋友。亦好高興見到圖書館積極陳列唔同語言嘅兒童圖書，當中包括由粵語愛爾蘭捐贈嘅粵文華文繁體漢字圖書。
大家可以透過愛爾蘭全國圖書館網上系統借閱呢批書籍。無論你住喺愛爾蘭邊個角落，只要預約，書本都可以送到你所屬嘅地區圖書館，方便又免費！
