December 2025
As 2025 draws to a close, we reflect on another impactful year for Cantonese in Ireland, marking our continued mission to promote Cantonese language and culture. This year, we reached over 50,000 people through 18 diverse events, connecting communities across schools, libraries, festivals, and public spaces. From cultural workshops in schools, bilingual storytelling at Cork Library, Lunar New Year celebrations in Dublin, to dragon boat racing, St. Patrick's Day Parade and Nail Care Project at a nursing home etc., our activities brought people of all ages and backgrounds together.
We were also proud to receive the Ireland Against grant and Dublin City Council fund, which have supported our continued work in promoting Cantonese language and culture.
Thank you to everyone who joined us this year. Here's to another year of growth, connection, and celebration. See you in 2026!

Miniature Cantonese Flowerboard Workshop
We had such a lovely time at our Miniature Cantonese Flowerboard Workshop at Chester Beatty on 20 December.
With the Ireland Against Racism Fund from Department of Children, Disability and Equality, we spent the afternoon making miniature flowerboards, chatting, and learning about this colourful Cantonesetradition together.
So happy to see so many people joining in, getting hands-on, and showing real interest in Cantonese culture.
Thanks to Yan, Janus, Alice and Ryan from Cantonese in Ireland also Randy for leading and assisting the workshop.
Cantonese Stories on Saturday - 'Flow Flow Flow'
Saturday 13 December at Cork City Library, the room was full of cheerful meowing as we shared the story 'Flow Flow Flow', a tale about a kitty’s adventure and its friendship with a tiger.
The children learned that “cat” in Cantonese is maau1 (貓), same as the sound of a cat! It's just that simple! And we all had fun drawing cats together with chalk.
