🌿✨ Awakening of Insects – Nature Stirs to Life! ✨🐞
Today marks the Awakening of Insects, a time when nature comes alive with rising temperatures and spring energy! 🌱🌧️
In Hong Kong, this day is marked by the unique "beating petty people 🔥" (da siu yan) ritual under Goose Neck Bridge, a tradition that started as a way to drive away pests 🦟 but evolved into a spiritual practice.
This Saturday (Mar 8, 2:00–2:40 PM) at Cork City Library, Peg Chiu, author of The Tiger Under the Flyover, will share the fascinating history of Goose Neck Bridge and its transformation over time.
Children can join in reading the story using Jyutping (Cantonese romanisation) and we will make the paper tigers 🐯 together! See you there!
