Online lecture: History of Cantonese Diaspora in Ireland /

Long before the Celtic Tiger immigration bloom, the first Cantonese migrants, mostly originating from Hong Kong, moved to Ireland in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Over the years, the profile of Cantonese migrants has evolved - from mostly business owners in catering services to international students to critical skill professionals, in addition to second-generation Cantonese immigrants whose Ireland is their home. An engaging online event exploring the Cantonese diaspora in Ireland. This event will delve into the experiences, challenges, and contributions of the Cantonese-speaking community in Ireland, from the 1950s to the present. Hear personal stories, cultural insights, and academic perspectives from our speaker Alice Chau - producer and presenter of the Asian Talents radio show NearFM. Whether you are part of the diaspora, interested in multicultural studies, or simply curious about the Cantonese community's impact in Ireland, this event will be both educational and entertaining.

Lecture will be conducted in English.
