Tickets are often referred to as "fei1" in Cantonese, such as "ce1 fei1" (train ticket), "jin5 coeng3 wui6 fei1" (concert ticket)and so on. It is said that the term "fei1" originated from the English word "fare," which means the fee of transportation. In the past, when taking public transportation in Hong Kong, one had to purchase tickets. Since "fare" sounds similar to "fei1," over time, "fei1" became a term used to represent tickets.
