Last Thursday, November 13th, a few volunteers from Cantonese in Ireland visited Killinardan Community School in Dublin to run a Cantonese culture workshop for 19 Transition Year students.

This issue, we feature Vicky, a second-generation Hong Kong Irish from Cork, now living in Dublin. She shares her experiences growing up in Ireland, her work with the Cantonese in Ireland committee, and her hopes for the Cantonese community here.

Ireland has just elected a new president — Catherine Connolly, a 68-year-old independent politician from Galway. 

It was a pleasure for Cantonese in Ireland to be invited by @irishuyghurca to join the community talk on preserving Uyghur language, culture, and identity in the diaspora.

Last Saturday at Cork City Library, children gathered for a special Cantonese session about mooncakes and the moon. 🧡

We’re thrilled to share that 13 beautiful books have been donated to the Cork City library- now on exhibition until the end of October!

Written in Traditional Han characters, some are bilingual (Cantonese & English), and others include Jyutping to help you learn Cantonese.

Hello, my name is Tindy and I am originally from Hong Kong. I have been on and off living in Ireland more than 15 years now. I work as a qualified Accountant and Tax advisor in Dublin. Prior to that, I obtained a registered nursing license which specializes in NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care) in Hong Kong. I worked in a private hospital for a bit longer than a year before I moved back to Dublin permanently.

On 31 August, Cantonese in Ireland had a blast at the Dublin Maker Festival!

In June and July, Lisa from Lisa’s Nailsrepresented Cantonese in Ireland by offering pampering manicures and nail care to elderly residents at a nursing home in Dublin.
