Hello everyone! I’m Heidi. My husband and I moved to Ireland in 2022. I work here as a childcare practitioner, and my husband is a registered social worker; we’re both continuing in our professional fields.

This issue, we feature Vicky, a second-generation Hong Kong Irish from Cork, now living in Dublin. She shares her experiences growing up in Ireland, her work with the Cantonese in Ireland committee, and her hopes for the Cantonese community here.

Hello, my name is Tindy and I am originally from Hong Kong. I have been on and off living in Ireland more than 15 years now. I work as a qualified Accountant and Tax advisor in Dublin. Prior to that, I obtained a registered nursing license which specializes in NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care) in Hong Kong. I worked in a private hospital for a bit longer than a year before I moved back to Dublin permanently.

Hi all, my name is Philip. I moved to Ireland from Hong Kong in 2020, and now reside in Dublin. I work as a software engineer, particularly focusing on web applications. Although my job is tech-oriented, but I have always been greatly interested in language and culture.

Hi all, my name is Ryan and I am born and raised in Hong Kong. I have just finished my four years of studies in Trinity College Dublin. I am honoured to become a committee member this year for Cantonese in Ireland as Communications Officer after participating in different events and previously being a volunteer.

Hi, I'm Max. I've been living in Ireland for two and a half years. I was born in Hong Kong and later moved to Singapore and Australia. I'm a behavioural scientist and an Assistant Professor. I relocated to Ireland after accepting an offer from Maynooth University. Brexit made Ireland an even more attractive destination, and so far, I believe I’ve made the right choice.

Hi I’m Angela currently based in cork. To be honest it was my degree which brings to me cork, I was debating between Ireland and the UK, but due to various circumstances I chose Ireland and am currently studying my dream course in UCC. I’m’ loving it so far!

Hey, I’m Cathy I’m 17, turning 18 this upcoming Jan. I’m currently studying in Alexandra College, in 6th year, preparing for the Leaving Cert.
